Deprogramming the Emergency

There is a quiet urgency many of us are living under.

Not the kind caused by actual danger — but the kind that keeps the body tense, the mind racing, and rest feeling undeserved. The kind that whispers move faster, do more, don’t stop, even when nothing is truly on fire.

This series exists to interrupt that reflex.

Deprogramming the Emergency is an ongoing body-based, truth-telling exploration of how urgency is learned, internalized, and normalized — especially for those who had to stay alert, adaptable, or quiet in order to feel safe.

It’s not about productivity.

It’s not about time management.

And it’s definitely not about pushing harder.

It’s about unlearning.

Unlearning the belief that everything is urgent.

Unlearning the guilt attached to rest.

Unlearning the idea that slowing down is dangerous.

These writings move gently, intentionally, and without pressure. There is no correct pace for reading them. There is no finish line to reach.

There is no emergency here.

How to Read This Series

Each piece builds on the last, but you don’t need to rush. Read in order if you can. Pause when you need to. Come back when something stirs.

This is not content meant to be consumed quickly.

It’s meant to be felt.

If you find yourself feeling resistance, discomfort, or recognition as you read, that doesn’t mean you’re doing it wrong. It means something in you is listening.

Take your time.

Nothing here requires immediate action.

Nothing here is chasing you.

You are allowed to slow down.
